If you’re looking for the perfect destination for your family holiday this year, Egypt is well worth considering. Not only is this African country beautiful, but it’s home to some of the best and most appealing tourist attractions in the world. Civilisation started not far from here, so there’s a wealth of historical artifacts and constructs certain to inspire your entire group. With that in mind, today I’m going to give you a head start by highlighting some of the places you don’t don’t want to miss. Of course, Egypt is a bit place, so you might want to consider planning your itinerary in advance to ensure you get to see everything.
I’ve personally been to this country three times in the last twenty years, and not much has changed. Contrary to what you might hear on the news these days, it’s a very peaceful place filled with interesting people who love meeting western tourists. So, booking some tickets soon and arranging your accommodation could be a wise move. While places like Cairo can be expensive, holidays to Hurghada are much cheaper. So, choose your location carefully if you’re on a tight budget!
Great Pyramids of Giza
There are three giant pyramids in Giza that tower over the city. These are the oldest of their kind in the country, and were once home to the bodies of some of the richest and most influential pharaohs ever to take the throne. Visiting them from the city is simple, but you might like the employ the services of a local guide. That doesn’t cost much, and means you’ll have a more fulfilling experience.

The Egyptian Museum
As the British monarchy ordered their top explorers to pillage what they could a couple of hundred years ago, there are more authentic artifacts in the British Museum than anywhere in Egypt. Even so, the Egyptian Museum contains some pretty impressive items that everyone should see at least once in their lifetime. Whether you want to check out tomb offerings or simply daily items from the ancient world, you’ll find everything you’re looking for right here.
The Luxor Temple
While it might stand in ruins at the current time, the Luxor temple was once one of the most impressive architectural achievements ever made by ancient people. Located on the east bank of the River Nile, local people have referred to it as “The Southern Sanctuary” for thousands of years. So, if you want to get a feel for the ancient world and how people lived and worshiped, this temple complex is an essential stop on your Egyptian adventure.
I hope you decide that visiting Egypt is a good idea this year, and I hope the information you’ve just read in this post makes your experience all the more memorable. Of course, you should also check out the valley of the kings while you’re there, but just be wary of the fact that you’ll be fighting with thousands of other tourists for the best views.
